Rev Les Brockway was our Minister from 1997 to 2005. He was much loved and had a distinguished history of service to the Uniting Church and the former Presbyterian Church. As well, Les served a term as Moderator in the Northern Synod and had a deep connection with Indigenous people. The Finance & Property Group has replaced the “sails” Rev Brockway do\nated to the Church to continue to honour his legacy at MPUC.
They have chosen “Little Creek” by Sonya Edney.
In this painting, Yinggarda artist Sonya Edney paints her country in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia after the rains have fallen on the usually dry claypans turning them into wet soakages. When this happens, the ground water attracts birds, insects and animals and the previously barren claypans become alive with life. The earth is also covered in wildflowers that have come up as a result of the rains.
Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. By this He meant, the Spirit whom those who believed in Him were later to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39
